The symposium was held on the topic “Buddhist Heritage of Kurundi and Buddhism in South India” in collaboration with Baudhaloka Foundation and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, on 19.05.2023 at 7.30 am in Hall B Mezzanine Floor, Nagananda International Institute of Buddhist Studies (NIIBS).
Ven. Dr. Bodhagama Chandima Thero, Vice Chancellor of the NIIBS participated in this Grand event. Also, Ven. Dr. Dhampe Vijitharathana Thero, Acting VC and Dean of the Faculty of Buddhist Studies, Mr. Jagath Sumathipala, president of Bauddhaloka Foundation, Prof. P. B. Mandawala, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Prof. Rangamini Werawatta, Director of the School of ICT, Mr. H.M.N.C. Herath, the Registrar and Mr. K.S. Nanayakkara, the Bursar and all the academic and Non-academic Staff participated in this occasion.
Dr. Senarath Dissanayake delivered the chair Address in the morning session and Prof. Praneeth Abeysundara delivered the chair address in the evening session.
Prof. Ven. Induragare Dhammarathana Thero, Senior Prof. Malinga Amarasinghe Prof. P.B. Mandawala, Prof. Kannan Jayabalan, Dr. H.H.A. Karunarathna, Royal Pandith, Mr. Vajira Prebath Wigesinghe, Mrs. Vasana Premachandra, and Mr. Gauthama Prabhu Nagappan delivered keynote addresses. The symposium concluded successfully with contributions made by the above scholars invited to grace this occasion.
