Mr. Piyaratna Ranasinghe Arachchi worked as a Public Relations Officer at the Industrial Development Board in Moratuwa from October 20, 1986, to March 15, 1992. Further, he served as an Assistant Registrar at the Southen Province Affiliated University College in Niyagama, Galle, under the University Grants Commission, from March 6, 1992, to May 3, 1993. Following that, from May 4, 1993, to November 21, 2001, he held the position of Senior Assistant Secretary at the University Grants Commission in Colombo 07. For an impressive 20-year tenure, from November 22, 2001, to April 18, 2022, Mr. Piyaratna Ranasinghe Arachchi served as the Registrar at the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka. Additionally, he served as Deputy Registrar at the University of Kelaniya for 12 months in 2004 and as Registrar at the Bhikkshu University of Sri Lanka for 18 months in 2012/2013. Currently, he serves as the Registrar of Nāgānanda International Institute for Buddhist Studies (NIIBS) since July 2023.
Mr. Piyaratna Ranasinghe Arachchi’s educational qualifications include a B.Com. (Sp.) from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura with Second Class, an M.A. in Economics (English Medium) from the University of Colombo in 2003, a Postgraduate Diploma in International Affairs (Merit Pass) (BCIS) (English Medium), a Postgraduate Diploma in Buddhist Studies (English Medium) from the University of Kelaniya in 2014, a Diploma in Public Procurement & Contract Administration (English Medium) from SLIDA in 2014/2015, and an M.Phil. (English Medium) from the University of Kelaniya in 2019.
Apart from the above, he followed short management courses in foreign universities the University of Pasig (Philippines) in 1990, the National University (Malaysia) in 2015 and Maastricht University (Netherlands) in 2016.
